Support for multiple playlists in HoloPlay Studio
planned 📆
Albert Hwang
Currently HoloPlay Studio only supports one playlist -- meaning that it (and the Looking Glass Portrait) can only hold onto one playlist at a time. If you want to swap between playlists you have to unload everything, reload everything, and sync. Would be nice if there were a better way to handle multiple playlists, which would unlock things like a "favorites" list.

Voicing my support for multiple playlists. As I demonstrate various content to various persons/clients I need to switch between various sets of content and I strongly lack the multiple playlists support.

Voicing my support for multiple playlists and the ability to save/export a whole playlist that can be easily shared to another device (in my case, with another remote family member to use on their device). Seems like the pieces are there to simply change/create folders, but there is no UI support to make this user friendly at all.

Hello Guys, any news to this feature request?!? I would love to have multiple playlists

Am a new user, "curating" displays on two Portraits, one for self and one for family. The core pics the same but also some slightly different pics on each. My suggestion seems related but not identical. It's about making it easier to manage "one computer to more than one Portrait"; playlists might be the answer - in which case it's planned - but my brain hasn't thought it through sufficiently so am adding it here in case!
I'd love Holoplay Studio to pick up its hologram listing from whichever LGP is connected in Desktop mode so that one can start to add new items/reorder/delete as appropriate from the display already on the frame. With HP Studio starting from its previous listing as happens now, if working on the alternate Portrait it is do-able but lengthy as I'm clearing all items from the list and starting from scratch again. (I could of course, as a newbie, be missing something obvious.)

I would definitely greatly appreciate the ability to have multiple playlists. I've loaded in a number of holograms of my family onto the portrait which is all nice and all but I'm also a 3D modeler so I like to have my models as holograms as well. But swapping between the whole sets every time would be quite tiresome. Especially without a way to remove all holograms at once.

We're currently refactoring HoloPlay Studio to make Multi Playlist support feasible! The refactor entails re-working the syncing pipeline among other systems.

Bryan Chris Brown:
It would be nice if settings like pan/crop, focus was saved next to the original source data in a text file (kind of how Camera RAW software (like Lightroom and RawTherapee) stores exposure settings etc)

Bryan Chris Brown: I have five Portraits and need to manage separate content on each. What is the current "best practice" until these features are available?
Bryan Chris Brown
Rick Markley: so you can follow this work around in our documentation for that, https://docs.lookingglassfactory.com/3d-viewers/holoplay-studio/troubleshooting#backing-up-your-playlists
It's definitely still a manual process, but this would be the best way of handling that situation currently.
Let me know if I can provide any further guidance here

Playlist sync and deletion bug
Edouard
When connecting the Looking Glass to different computers, the current playlist on the device does not get synchronized, which means it is impossible to use several computers to manage the Looking Glass, unless every time the user stars from an empty playlist and overwrites everything on the Looking Glass.
Since the current playlist on the device is not displayed in the app (it should), when first adding videos to the playlist, the demo videos are deleted from the playlist, which is not a huge problem in itself, since they can be downloaded again from the website.
However, the videos remain on the device storage, and have to be deleted manually in order to regain the space, since they're useless when they're absent from the playlist. Deleted videos from the playlist should be deleted from the device, else space is never recalled.

At the very least, allow HoloPlay Studio to manage multiple lists, and sync them selectively to the Frame.

Suggestion (which may possibly make it easier to implement this request feature)... Rather than having separate multiple playlists, have a single playlist with all the content, assign an additional parameter (call it a "theme" or "virtual view") where we can select which images/videos belong to that theme. Of course, an image/video could belong to multiple themes. All you are doing is filtering or controlling which images/videos are active in the playlist when in standalone mode.
