It seems there is a dilation filter applied or something like that that also needs to be reversed when using depth inversion

Can you provide an example of this effect? It's certainly possible but we haven't been able to reproduce this

Try inverting the depth channel in a RGBD image, and turn on depth inversion, then compare to the original.
